During the premier gathering for the global hydrogen community in the Americas region at the #H2Americas2023 Summit & Exhibition, we spoke to global and regional #hydrogen and #energy leaders about the future outlook for the hydrogen industry, including an interview with David Burns, VP Clean Energy from Linde.
“I guess developers as well as the academic community as well as the Department of Energy in particular, so you bring all that together, it’s really the hydrogen and clean energy community, so it’s a great place to be able to meet all those people in one location at one time, so from that point of view it’s a great opportunity to network and find opportunities to work together, develop projects together and find businesses together.
I spoke on the panel today, also listening to some of the other speakers, I think there’s a lot of sense of urgency around the need to use hydrogen as a way of decarbonizing our world. Obviously become much more urgent with some of the news items around, some of the extreme weather events etc and that kind of a concern that we need to do more and more quickly, and so some of the speakers we heard of from today are all kind of embarked on that path doing all they can to help achieve decarbonization where they can in industry and other facets of our life.
As we transition away from a hydrocarbon based economy to one based on renewables and clean energy they key part of that, we always have to be mindful of cost, there’s going to be high cost involved in doing that transition. Now the benefits are also very substantial but they’re not always immediately noticeable to those who are forced to pay higher cost for energy in the short term. So that’s one of the biggest challenges and I think that’s where we all come together as industry, governments and NGO’s etc and figure out the best way to move forward.”
