Marcel van de Kar is globally responsible for the development and implementation of the strategy and projects related to Hydrogen and its carriers like Ammonia, Liquid H2 and LOHC. This requires understanding technology developments, connecting with future partners and engaging with stakeholders to identify future supply chains and let Vopak become part of new solutions to decarbonise the industry.
Marcel joined Vopak in 1995 as a Management Trainee after graduating as Master of Science at Delft University of Technology. Over the years Marcel has worked in different management positions in the Netherlands, France and South Africa, from roles in the operational, technical and safety area to strategic commercial roles. Since 2016, Marcel has developed the position of Vopak in the Energy Transition combining his knowledge and line management experience as Terminal Manager and Managing Director with his strategic insights from his years as Global Account Director and Divisional Commercial Director. At the same time, his prior experience in shipping and operational knowledge of handling chemicals, oil products and gasses give him the right basis to understand the needs of current and future product flows like hydrogen.
